Sandals resorts are some of the best all-inclusive, adults-only luxury accommodations in the Caribbean and are great for couples of any age.
However, some Sandals resorts have an atmosphere that feels more mature or amenities that attract an older demographic.
I hate to use the term “older” because it’s completely relative, but for the sake of clarity, we’re going to define “older” as over 40. Let’s be clear – 40 is certainly not “old”, but we want different things in our 40s than in our 20s or even 30s, and this can change what we are looking for in a resort.
Using personal experience (and in-depth knowledge of Sandals resorts) as well as reading through a massive quantity of reviews, we’ve compiled a list of the best Sandals resorts for older couples. Keep reading to discover which Sandals resort you should choose!
Sandals Royal Plantation
SANDALS Royal Plantation Beach Resort
See More PhotosLocated on the bluffs above two private beach coves in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Sandals Royal Plantation is our number-one choice for older couples.
This resort is smaller than other Sandals resorts and only has 74 rooms. However, all of the rooms at Sandals Royal Plantation are Butler Elite suites, which come with the services of a private butler, 24-hour room service, stunning interiors, and all of the inclusions only available to top-tier guests.

The atmosphere at Sandals Royal Plantation can best be described as laidback luxury for couples who truly want to relax on their vacation. Peacocks roam the gardens, afternoon tea is prepared daily, and a warm breeze blows in from the ocean.
This resort isn’t gimmicky at all and caters to couples who know what they want.

Highlights of Sandals Royal Plantation
- Guests can enjoy “stay at 1, play at 2” exchange privileges with Sandals Ochi, a large, lively resort generally catering to a younger crowd. However, it is a great place to visit for the day – enjoy the beach club, eat at one of the 16 restaurants, or grab a drink at one of the 11 trendy bars.
- Guests receive complimentary green fees and multiple rounds at Upton Estate Golf & Country Club, which is home to an 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course with incredible views from 700 feet above sea level. The course has three sets of tees, so beginner and advanced golfers can take advantage of this beautiful place. If you want to improve your game, you can take private lessons led by professional instructors that cost $180 for 60 minutes or $260 for 90 minutes.
- Hobbie Cats, kayaking, windsurfing, aquatrikes, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and all of the usual water sports are available. In addition, Sandals Royal Plantation has glass bottom boats, which is unique to this resort.
- Red Lane Spa offers Caribbean-inspired treatments, plunge pools, a steam room, a fitness center, a yoga studio, and relaxation spaces in a tranquil garden setting. While the fitness center and yoga classes can be accessed free of charge, spa services can be booked as “add-ons” for an additional price.

- There are five restaurants and two bars. The Terrace offers elevated Caribbean dishes on a gorgeous terrace with breathtaking views of the sea. Menu items include Crisp Romain & Panko Crusted Scallops, Rib Eye Steak cooked to your specification, and Grilled Snapper Fillet. Papillon is another excellent restaurant that serves French cuisine in an opulent dining room that will transport you to Old Europe. Menu items include Foie Gras Poêle – “pan-seared duck liver, caramelized grilled pear, toasted brioche, port wine drizzle” – and Langouste Grillée – “grilled Caribbean lobster tail, steamed broccoli, saffron rice, garlic-herb butter sauce”.
Our Favorite Rooms
- Royal Oceanfront One Bedroom Butler Suite – This stunning suite comes with a separate master bedroom and living area as well as a cozy balcony. But what really makes this room stand out is the bathtub in the ensuite, which has a window that allows afternoon sunlight to bathe you while you take in the ocean view (price: from $725 per person per night).
- Regent Oceanfront Butler Suite – We highlighted this room because it’s usually the most affordable suite at the resort. Even though the price is lower, you will still feel like royalty. The suite offers island-contemporary designs with mahogany furniture, a dining area, and a French balcony (price: from $366 per person per night).
Sandals Regency La Toc
SANDALS Regency La Toc All-Inclusive Resort
See More PhotosLocated on a sprawling 220-acre estate in Castries, Saint Lucia, Sandals Regency La Toc is a larger resort and an excellent choice for golfers. Guests can enjoy complimentary green fees and multiple rounds at La Toc Golf Course and Cap Estate Golf & Country Club. Sandals also provides transfers to and from the golf courses for added convenience.
Sandals Regency La Toc also stands out because it is home to the Sunset Oceanview Bluff Village, which is a collection of luxurious suites located in a separate part of the resort with incredible views and facilities. Guests who stay in this exclusive village have access to a higher level of privacy and their own pools.
The atmosphere at Sandals Regency La Toc can best be described as exclusive and indulgent. It’s a good choice for older couples who want some excitement and socializing on their vacation but also want to relax in peace.
Highlights of Sandals Regency La Toc
- Guests can enjoy “stay at 1, play at 3” exchange privileges with Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Halcyon Beach. While waterskiing is not offered at Sandals Regency La Toc due to rougher seas, guests can partake in this water sport at Sandals Grande St. Lucian.
- There are nine restaurants and eight bars, including multiple swim-up bars. As its name implies, the Sunset Bar is the best place to enjoy a sundowner and is located on a cliff overlooking the shimmering ocean. Couples seeking Italian cuisine in a romantic setting will love Armando’s. Menu items include Pan-seared Salmon, Grilled Lamb Chops, and a mouthwatering selection of desserts.

- There are four whirlpools and three swimming pools; however, the Sunset Ocean Bluff Pool is the true standout. This pool is only available to guests staying in the Sunset Oceanview Bluff Village and is a haven of tranquility with amazing sea views.

- Cap Estate Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par 71 resort-style course that is beautifully built into its tropical surroundings. We consider this a challenging course due to the rolling greens and crosswinds coming off the ocean, but beginners can also have a good time.
- The crescent-shaped beach in front of the resort is a great place for lounging or playing beach volleyball. During the winter months, the water can become choppy, so if swimming is important to you, you should book your romantic vacation during another time of year.
Our Favorite Rooms
- Sunset Oceanview Bluff Millionaire Butler Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary – This is the premier villa at the resort and truly looks like a millionaire’s home. Located on a cliff, the villa features butler service, a large, private pool with incredible sea views, a 3-story sundeck, and a whirlpool. The master bedroom has retractable glass doors, providing 180-degree views of the surroundings (price: from $1,139 per person per night).

- Sunset Bluff Oceanview One Bedroom Butler Suite w/ Balcony – Located in the Sunset Oceanview Bluff Village, this suite comes with 24-hour room service and the services of a private butler. It is an excellent choice for couples who want a little more space because it has a large, separate living room and a big balcony with a soaking tub (price: from $493 per person per night).
Sandal Grande Antigua
Sandals Grande Antigua All-Inclusive Resort
See More PhotosLocated on the sandy shores of the famous Dickenson Bay in St. John’s, Antigua, this all-inclusive resort has been voted “The World’s Most Romantic Resort,” and with good reason.
The resort itself is divided into two parts: the seaside Caribbean Beachfront Village and the hilltop Mediterranean Oceanview Village.
“Older” couples tend to stay at the Caribbean side of the resort, which is the first part that was built. 20-something honeymooners usually prefer the more modern Mediterranean Oceanview Village. We recommend staying in the Caribbean Beachfront Village because it’s more relaxed and the tropical gardens are absolutely gorgeous. You can also find many beachfront suites with private pools and lovely rooms with spacious verandas in this area.

Sandals Grande Antigua Highlights
- There are 11 restaurants and seven bars, including swim-up bars. While younger guests often frequent Drunken Duck (a traditional British pub) and Bella Napoli Pizzeria, we recommend reserving a table at Eleanor’s or Kimono’s, an exciting Teppanyaki-style restaurant. Eleanor’s is a beachfront restaurant that offers West Indian dishes, such as Pulled Jerk Pork & Coconut Shrimp, Jamaican Style Steamed Snapper Fillet, and Pan-seared Crab. Make sure to book reservations the day you arrive because both of these restaurants are in high demand.

- Sandals resorts are known for their beautiful beaches, but Dickenson Bay really takes the cake. Think warm, turquoise waters and the kind of soft, white sand you usually only find on postcards. It’s the perfect spot to take a long walk, relax in a hammock, lounge on a daybed or partake in water activities.

- Antigua is a beautiful place to enjoy by car, with many stunning beaches, local restaurants, and interesting sites only a short drive away. We recommend booking a car for at least a day while you are staying at Sandals Grande Antigua.
- The resort is home to six whirlpools and six swimming pools, including the largest pool in the Eastern Caribbean.

- Guests love the services and atmosphere at Red Lane Spa. Although we haven’t tried the massages personally, they’ve been recommended numerous times and are often praised in reviews.

Our Favorite Rooms
- Caribbean Honeymoon Butler Rondoval with Private Pool Sanctuary – Located in the Caribbean Beachfront Village, this villa combines the cobblestone elegance of rural Tuscany with the laidback luxury of a beachy island stay. Designed with privacy in mind, it features a walled-in courtyard with a private plunge pool, an outdoor shower, a dining area, lush plantings, and butler service (prices: from $709 per person per night).

- Caribbean Club Level Veranda Suite – This is a great option if you are looking for a more affordable room. This suite is located in the Caribbean section of the resort and offers a balcony with views of the sea and tropical gardens (prices: from $382 per person per night).
Sandals Royal Caribbean
SANDALS Royal Caribbean Beach Resort Montego Bay
See More PhotosIf you want to stay in an overwater bungalow, then Sandals Royal Caribbean is the best Sandals resort for you. Situated in Montego Bay, Jamaica, this all-inclusive resort is luxurious and has a ton of impressive amenities and facilities.
For example, guests can spend the day on a private island located just minutes away by a speedboat. Here guests can relax by a Bali-inspired pool, rent private cabanas with butler service, have a cocktail in a hammock, or enjoy a delicious dinner at Royal Thai.

Despite being a large resort with an abundance of activities, Sandals Royal Caribbean maintains an intimate feel and tends to attract older couples for anniversaries instead of only honeymooners.
Highlights of Sandals Royal Caribbean
- The obvious highlight is the overwater bungalows, of which there are two kinds. One is a spacious villa that comes with a private infinity pool stilted over the ocean (we’ll talk about it in a moment). The other type of overwater bungalow doesn’t come with a private pool, but it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime stay.

- The resort offers many formal traditions and architectural touches that hark back to its British heritage. For example, high tea is served daily.
- Guests can enjoy “stay at 1, play at 2” exchange privileges with Sandals Montego Bay. This resort has a bit more of a party vibe and generally attracts a younger crowd, but the restaurants are great.
- The live entertainment and nightly shows are considered some of the best of any Sandals resort. The fire dancers are fantastic!
- There are nine restaurants and five bars; however, our favorite eatery is Royal Thai. Located on the resort’s private island, this Thai restaurant is beautifully decorated with exotic hardwoods and vivid tapestries reminiscent of Old Siam. Due to the venue’s popularity, you must book a reservation as soon as you arrive at the resort to guarantee a table. Menu highlights include the Spicy Green Curry, Grilled Beef Salad, and, of course, Pad Thai.
- There are six whirlpools and eight swimming pools.
- Butler Elite guests receive complimentary airport transfers in a private BMW.
Our Favorite Rooms
- Over the Water Private Island Butler Villa with Infinity Pool – If we had to choose the best room at any Sandals resort, this would be it. If you are celebrating an anniversary or a special birthday or simply want to splurge, you will not regret staying in this gorgeous villa. Each overwater villa features a spacious deck with a private infinity pool, catamaran nets, cushioned swings, an outdoor seating area, and floating hammocks. The villa also comes with a soaking tub, glass floor panels for admiring marine life, and a Bali-inspired design (prices: from $2,285 per person per night).

- Swim-up Crystal Lagoon Honeymoon One Bedroom Butler Suite – Sandals Royal Caribbean offers several swim-up suites, but this is our favorite due to its “old money” feel (prices: from $563 per person per night).
Honorable Mention: Sandals Halcyon Beach
Sandals Halcyon Beach All-Inclusive Resort
See More PhotosLocated in Castries, Saint Lucia, this resort is an excellent choice for retired couples seeking a tranquil environment, good food, and a taste of easy luxury. Lush tropical gardens grow all the way to the shore, and the swim-up suites are topnotch.
