While researching this article, I found a well-formatted and informative website: Playa del Carmen.com (Wedding Pioneer is not affiliated with this site).
There are literally hundreds of hotels in Riviera Maya, the area south of Cancun airport that ends around the rocky shores of Tulum Beach.
History buffs love the area for its famous Mayan ruins, while nature lovers enjoy the jungle tours and cenote formations, and beach bums come for the gorgeous Caribbean coastline!
The touristy town of Play del Carmen is a central focus of Riviera Maya, whether you’re looking for great nightlife, 5th Avenue shopping, or a tour operator to snorkel a nearby coral reef.

Best All-Inclusive Wedding Resorts in Playa del Carmen
We found two great choices for your destination wedding in Playa del Carmen.
Both are highly rated (4.7 stars), and we scoured reviews from wedding couples to get the best feel for what to expect on your big day at these gorgeous resorts in the Mexican Caribbean.
Paradisus Playa del Carmen
The Paradisus resort complex in Playa del Carmen includes a separate family-friendly area and the adults-only (18+) section called La Perla.
The white sand beach here is spectacular, and the turquoise seas are a perfect backdrop for your destination wedding. Take a virtual resort tour of Paradisus Playa del Carmen!
Wedding packages at Paradisus Playa del Carmen appear to run in the $5,000 to $18,500 range, and it’s a good idea to request a quote for more information on the best package for you. This wedding package PDF contains general cost details and a contact form.
Sandos Playacar Beach Resort
The high rating for Sandos Playacar is impressive, considering it has nearly 29,000 traveler reviews and counting on Google Maps.
Sandos has three accommodation sections, and one is devoted to family-friendly groups.
I really like the wedding planning section on the Sandos website! It gives excellent price information, includes email and toll-free number contact details for their wedding planners, and also features a downloadable brochure.
Best All-Inclusive Honeymoon Resorts in Playa del Carmen
Many couples who honeymoon in Playa del Carmen seem to return year after year—or as often as they possibly can—because they love it so much!
We found three great resorts in the area renowned for their honeymoon packages.
Royal Hideaway Playacar
The Royal Hideaway Playacar is an upscale, adults-only resort nestled along the pristine shores of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Renowned for its luxurious amenities, impeccable service, and stunning beachfront location, the resort offers an exclusive and tranquil escape for those seeking a sophisticated retreat in the heart of the Riviera Maya.
This adults-only (18+) “exclusive all-inclusive” offers romantic seclusion for honeymooners who want a quieter and more relaxing experience that’s still close to town for day trips.
Royal Hideaway has excellent reviews for amenities and service, but couples looking for more of a party atmosphere on their honeymoon might be advised to look elsewhere!
The two-story honeymoon suite gives couples a breathtaking view and plenty of space to stretch out, and you’ll enjoy the private balcony and whirlpool tub for two.
Check out the Barcelo Royal Hideway site for booking information and details on restaurants, bars, and on-site amenities.
While it’s popular with people of all ages seeking a family-friendly stay, Iberostar Tucan is a highly-rated resort with great all-inclusive amenities for honeymooners. It includes Iberostar Aliveness, which offers fantastic well-being programs that combine activities with nature.
Active honeymooners looking for a party also love the Tucan because it should only cost you between 100 and 120 pesos (one-way) to get to all the action in town!
Playacar Palace is a luxurious, all-inclusive resort nestled along the pristine shores of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Known for its elegant design and upscale amenities, the resort offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and provides guests with a perfect blend of relaxation and indulgence.
Honeymoon couples who want pampering should look to the luxury inclusions at Playacar Palace. Their website mentions 24-hour room service and world-class dining when you two finally decide to venture outside your honeymoon suite!
The spa area at Playacar Palace is a great romantic refuge for couples, especially since this is a family-friendly resort in practically every other area.
Consider the Superior Honeymoon Suite with an in-room whirlpool tub and a private oceanfront balcony for a lavish and hopefully unforgettable first trip as newlyweds.
Luxury All-Inclusive Resorts in Playa del Carmen
So far, all the resorts we’ve mentioned offer luxury amenities for your Playa del Carmen vacation, but these two resorts in Playa del Carmen take it a step above.
Remember to check out deals and promotions online because you might score a fantastic deal on your luxury Playa del Carmen vacation!
Grand Velas Riviera Maya
This luxury resort has a pretty grand price tag—but check out their website frequently for exclusive deals and promotions.
Over 4,000 reviews and a very high rating of 4.8 stars offer solid proof that the Grand Velas Riviera Maya is worth the luxury cost, and many couples who’ve held their destination weddings here mention in reviews that they’ve returned repeatedly.
Their all-inclusive dining options include Italian, French, and Asian Fusion, and I also like that they’ve included an authentic Mexican restaurant here.
The “3 unique experiences” is a great way to describe the accommodation packages here. Click on the Romantic Getaway experience for details and images of a Grand Class Oceanfront Suite with a plunge pool on the private balcony or terrace facing the ocean.
When I checked their website, nightly rates for a Grand Class Oceanfront Suite started at $1,655 per night (non-refundable rate). Check the Grand Velas website for guaranteed lowest pricing and package offers!
Palmaïa, The House of AïA
This ultra-exclusive wellness resort has the lowest number of verified traveler ratings online, but it’s still highly rated with a focus on relaxation, nature, fun, and top-quality sustainability.
À la carte meals, 24-hour room service, and premium domestic and international beverages are included. Their Architects of Life program offers four distinct categories of wellness activities, and the whole vibe of this place is future-forward and super-cool!
You can choose from Oceanfront, Swim Out, Meditation, and Family Suites here. A King Suite with a Bathtub is a great mid-range choice, and when I checked prices before the high season, the flexible rate started at $908 per night.
Check the Palmaïa website for specials!
Budget-Friendly All-Inclusive Resorts in Playa del Carmen
As a whole, vacations in Mexico offer tremendous affordability, so if you’re on a tighter budget, you can still get a lot of “bang for your buck” at a resort in Playa del Carmen.
While keeping your expectations low at a budget-friendly property in Riviera Maya is probably a good idea, the tradeoff on a less glamorous budget vacation is more vacation dollars to spend shopping or dining in town.
We found a decent 4-star resort close to town and a Riu resort that claims to be 5-star at fairly reasonable prices!
Hotel Riu Yucatan
With nearly 9,000 traveler reviews and a 4.5 rating, the 24-hour all-inclusive Hotel Riu Yucatan bills itself as a 5-star with attractive rates beginning at $215 per night in mid-season (prices flexible and subject to change).
However, the reviews on the buffet and theme restaurants are generally good, and the beach is rated as outstanding.
If you like to see exotic animals like birds and monkeys reasonably close up, you’re in for a treat at this Riu because the non-threatening wildlife is free to roam around the property! Check out Riu Yucatan for special offers and details on the Riu Party experience that is shared between Riu Yucatan, Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya, Hotel Riu Playacar, Hotel Tequila, and the Hotel Riu Palace Mexico.
The Reef Coco Beach
This beachfront, family-friendly resort offers good amenities and easy access to town.
Reef Coco Beach offers four restaurants, including a Japanese Teppanyaki style with showcase chefs, and there is also a cafe and two bar areas. You will also get exchange privileges to enjoy the Reef Playacar resort nearby.
There’s a tennis court and fitness room here, and the outdoor pool with a swim-up bar is pretty popular!
Rooms at the Reef Coco Beach feature poolside or partial ocean views, but the resort does make a point online of stating that it is not wheelchair accessible.
Current room prices range from $229 to $289 for a one-night stay before high season.
Check out activities and tours at the Reef Coco Beach and the handy links on that page for car rentals or airport transportation.
