This comes in well under the national average of $27,000, which means that a wedding based in Indiana likely won’t drain your savings.

See? Sometimes it pays to be the underdog! If you’re still interested in all Indiana offers in the way of venues, then you’re in for a treat.

The University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame might be one of the top schools in the United States, but its marvelous Renaissance-style architecture and perfect location also make it a popular wedding venue.

Construction for the campus was completed in 1842, making it one of the oldest universities in our country, and weddings here benefit from its long, storied history and antique charm.

The Ivy League university offers several spaces for you and your partner to host any number of wedding activities, although they only permit ceremonies at the Basilica, Mary, Queen of Angels Chapel, Log Chapel, or Lady Chapel.

Perfect for a traditional ballroom reception, the Dahnke Ballroom features high ceilings, towering columns, and cool, low lighting.

If you’d like to experience Notre Dame from new, interesting heights, then a reception held at the Southwest Box, a private patio overlooking Notre Dame University Stadium, may suit your needs.

This private venue offers an intimate, closed-off space, gorgeous views, cushioned seating, and 5-star services. Perfect for a small reception!

Note: Ceremonies are reserved for current students, faculty, and alumni but the campus allows anyone to host their reception here.

Price Range: $5,000 and up.

Capacity: Up to 700 guests.

There are both indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate your wedding activities, including rehearsal dinners, bridal brunches, and more!

Indiana State Capitol Building

If you’ve never considered getting married at a state’s capitol building, then you’ve obviously never experienced Indiana’s!

Meticulous planning and mapping went into the construction of this building, which was inspired by Classic Revival Style architecture.

Its sweeping multi-tiered columns, stained glass ceilings, and marble floors make it a great spot to host a traditional, upscale wedding. Plus, it’s a rather inexpensive alternative to comparable venues.

Most couples wed at the North Atrium, a grand ceremony hall that exudes feelings of undeniable grandeur and luxury.

However, there are plenty of scenic outdoor areas that you can take advantage of for wedding photos.

Rentals include four-hour blocks, tables, chairs, a sound system, and a unity candle table.

Price Range: $1,250 for venue rental; add-ons extra.

Capacity: Up to 500 guests.

Mavris Arts & Event Center

The Mavris Arts & Events Center has a history that predates its time as a popular wedding venue.

Originally built in 1893, the building was originally a warehouse for grocery stores. Now, it serves as an industrial-chic venue for Central Indiana’s residents.

This venue offers three spaces for wedding ceremonies and receptions:

The Main Space is a two-story open layout space that boasts hardwood floors exposed brick and plenty of rustic charm.

The Speakeasy is a 3,000-square-foot space with low ceilings, wooden beams, and low, cozy lighting. It’s the perfect spot for an intimate, unique wedding reception.

If you’d prefer to have an outdoor celebration, then the center’s outdoor patio is perfect. It features a fire pit, pergola, and breathtaking views of the Indianapolis skyline.

Rentals allow for 14 hours of private use of the facilities, access to bride and groom suites, and the help of an on-site wedding planner.

If you’ve always envisioned your wedding as a black-tie affair, then the Skyline Club might be the perfect venue for you.

Located on the 36th floor of the One Tower building, the Skyline Club is a meeting space for Indiana’s entrepreneurs and businessmen.

The upscale club requires business-casual attire, which reflects its professional atmosphere. This works great for couples who wish for their wedding to exude a sophisticated charm.

This venue offers several spaces for your wedding ceremony and reception. The Main Dining Room is an enclosed space with high ceilings, moody lighting, and plenty of space for dining and dancing.

If you’d like to benefit from the Skyline Club’s views of the city, then you should consider the Booth Tarkington Room or the Skyline East room, which can accommodate small celebrations – up to 90 guests.

For slightly larger ceremonies of up to 100 guests, you can utilize The Bistro, the club’s dining room.

Gallery Forty-Two

Gallery Forty-Two is an art museum and gallery, located in the downtown Indianapolis historic district.

The gallery, originally built in 1893, is the oldest commercial building in the city. Since being renovated in 2014, this glossy venue is a popular venue for chic, upscale wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Although the 3,000-square-foot space boasts four stories, it limits the number of guests to 100, which makes for intimate ceremonies and receptions.

If you want to enjoy a pre-wedding cocktail, a grand staircase will lead you to a mezzanine where you can grab a drink at the bar. It’s a fun little feature that gives guests an elevated view of the event space.

You’ll have to travel back down to the first floor for the wedding ceremony and reception. Your celebration will benefit from the building’s exposed brick, crystal chandeliers, and rustic atmosphere.

And while the building provides plenty of ornate features, the various art installations also add an elegant flair to the space.

Price Range: $4,100 – $5200 for the basic package; $5,100 – $6,200 for the Grand Celebration package.

Capacity: Up to 100 guests.

The Armory

The Armory is now a rustic event space in South Bend Indiana, but the building has gone through a metamorphosis over the years.

Since the early 1920s, it’s been home to a rec center and a police range. Today, it primarily hosts weddings and other banquets and celebrations.

The space offers a rustic chic atmosphere for all of your wedding activities. Grand chandeliers, high ceilings, and exposed brick contribute to the space’s historic feel.

You can exchange vows and host your reception in the indoor event space, but if you venture outdoors, you can take advantage of the building’s ornate exterior and proximity to the St. Joseph River – a great spot to shoot all of your pre-wedding photos.

Note: all food and drinks must go through the venue.

Price Range: $2,500 and up.

Capacity: Up to 400 guests.

Rock Run Creek Barn

Indiana ranks 10th in agricultural output, so it’s no surprise that barn venues are plentiful in the state. The best barn, however, is the Rock Run Creek Barn, located in Goshen, Indiana.

Originally built in the 1850s, this renovated barn is a splendid mix of old-world charm and modern amenities.

The barn’s striking red interior pulls you in from the second you step foot into the property, making it a wonderful spot to take wedding photos.

For your ceremony, you can exchange vows either on the lawn, outside of the barn, or from the comfort of indoors.

This venue also offers a bridal suite, horse-drawn carriage, bonfire pit, deck, and honeymoon suite.

For an additional fee, you can rent out the guest house either for your out-of-town guests or for your honeymoon.

Price Range: $4,500 for one-day rental; $5,200 for two-day rental. The food and beverage fee is separate.

Capacity: Up to 180 guests.

You can choose from one of several venues for your wedding activities:

The Palais Royale Ballroom is a popular reception space with its high ceilings, gold-leaf encrusted chandeliers, and multi-level columns.

The Morris Arts Performing Center is also a great spot to consider as well as the grand lobby with its domed ceilings and terrazzo floors.

Meanwhile, the Theater is an elegant performing space that offers 2,500 seats, professional light and sound options, and two levels for guests to congregate.

Of course, a venue this ornate provides near-endless spots to stage a wedding photoshoot.
